I got your average pushmail today but couldn't send it straight to the trash without mentioning it here, if only so I can get some sympathetic mojo from the awesomeness of this man's work.
I've been seeing Peter de Sève's illustrations for ever, but didn't realize how awesome he was until I found out that he was the artist behind the rather different and goofy character design for Ice Age. The spiraling rocks, the impossible yet expressive body types, you could almost see the swirling pen strokes in the landscapes. He has also worked on Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life and Robots, but his style doesn't shine through as much as in Ice Age, especially his scruffy squirrel/rat, Scrat.
Anywho, he's done many New Yorker covers over the years and the magazine is offering them as prints. Not too pricey. Well, too pricey for me, unless they're signed or something, which they're not.
Anyway, that's my art public service for the day.

Minotaur WIP
These aren't as nice as the octopus pics. Not too bad for a phone cam,
but still. I thought you guys might like to see how I went at this one.
As before, I work from way lighter than the image will end up. This kind of helps me plan the process along the way as well as mitigate any errors I might make.

Where the Wild Things Came To Be
Tate Shots presents a rare video interview with illustrator Maurice Sendak.
"Maurice Sendak, the creative genius behind books such as 'Where the Wild Things Are' and 'In the Night Kitchen', is an illustrator whose work has been seen by millions of people all over the world."

Undead Shop
No, there are no undead shoes here. Yes, I might make a zombie sneaker.
The shop just isn't live yet, but the individual items are available:

A painting and some info

Figured I'd combine the two this time around.
Verge
5" x 7"
Acrylic on canvas
Like some of my pieces, this started out as something else. I just decided to stop early.
Next week will be a busy one. I have a PET scan coming up on Tuesday at 3:30pm. I'm guessing it's similar to a CAT scan, just not sure what the differences are. I just hope I don't have to have iodine injected into me again. That was just too creepy feeling and I hate needles.
Then I have a planning session with my radiation oncologist. I believe this is when I get "marked", Either with dots of ink or actual tattoo dots. This is to make sure the lining up of the beams is consistent. I also believe I will be fitted for a mask at this time too. Basically, a mold is taken of my face so a mask can be created. This will fit over my face and be bolted to the machine's table so I my head is in the exact same position every time and so I can't move my head during the procedure. Glad I'm not claustrophobic.
